Coach Tien Ly began his softball coaching career with his oldest daughter, Anna in Oswego, IL. All three of his daughters have played or play softball. In 2015, his 10U Shakopee team won Tier 1 fall state championship, and in 2018, he helped the Eden Prairie 10U team won the first ever MOA Nationals championship. Coach Tien’s passion is with training and development of young players. His specialty is with hitting and catching. He has served as the off-season trainer for Edina, Clutch Hitters, St. Louis Park, and for Midwest Power 14U, which he is also the head coach and player development coordinator. He does private hitting and catching lessons out of TLC in Savage. Tien’s coaching philosophy is…. “I don’t HAVE to coach, but I CHOOSE to. I don’t coach because it pays the bills, or it’s just a hobby. I’m not just volunteering, and I don’t coach to fulfill some fantasy of winning the big game. I coach because it’s what I LOVE to do, and I want it to make a difference with my players.”

TLC Softball Sevices is more than a place for athletes to train, it is a family. We work to challenge & inspire every athlete we train. The hard work & confidence these girls learn to go beyond the field & become life lessons.
We are committed to helping our athletes reach their greatest potential by providing intensive instruction for both their physical & mental strength. Coach Tien knows the discipline needed to be successful on & off the field and support & believes in each girl.
The discipline he learned from the 16 years of coaching experience will extend into our daily lives & the success we achieve from our hard work & perseverance through adversity will teach life lessons that will extend far beyond the diamond.
TLC Softball Services mission is to mold our girls into not only great athletes, but also great young women.

Tien Ly is legit! This man gets it!!!

In the 1st 5 minutes of my daughter’s 1st lesson, I new this was my guy. His approach to hitting is exactly what I was looking for my daughter. I am impressed with his hitting knowledge, but more impressed with his ability to teach it to my daughter AND GET RESULTS!

After last season I was frustrated. My daughter had seemed to tune me out a bit and not improving, as where her teammates were making significant improvements. I made the humble decision to ask around for suggestions of who might be a good hitting coach. Tien Ly was the name who kept coming up from those who have kids who are good hitters.

Going to Tien was a great decision for my daughter. I would recommend Tien to anyone who has a daughter who wants to get better and willing to put in the work!

Coach Tien is a great hitting instructor. He was able to quickly identify what was going on with my daughters swing, and then help her by teaching her the adjustments she needed to make to improve.

He really took the time to break down her swing into different components to work on. While he did that, he helped us to understand the logic behind the mechanics he was implementing in my daughters swing. It was great to see how Coach Tien started with simple concepts for my daughter to learn, and then continuously build on them with a progression that really made sense.

With Tien’s help, my daughter learned to properly load and fire with her legs, correctly rotate her body through her swing, and much more.

He is a great communicator, and he really knows how to speak with my daughter.

I would highly suggest Coach Tien. He is an experienced hitting coach who really knows his stuff!
